STORY 

Zega events and advocacy is a Nonprofit local community based organisation. organised by an Ethiopian LGBTQAI + community who desired there freedom.

Our name inspired by a nickname who use by ethiopian LGBTQAI+ community.

ZEGA means a Nickname of LGBTOA + Ethiopian community .We Use This name to discribe our self and protect our self from straight communities, As all we know Homosexuality is illegal in Ethiopia due to that we Used the Name called ZEGA to Hide our selves and to be safe. We are intersted on this name to Express our organisation because we stand for Ethiopian LGBTQAI+

In Ethiopia, being a member of the LGBTO+ community is illegal. Discrimination and marginalization is prevalent, and many LGBTQ+ individuals faced persecution and harassment simply for being true to themselves. These oppressive laws created an environment of fear and secrecy.

However, amidst the adversity, a group of passionate individuals came together and formed an organization called "ZEGA EVENTS AND ADVOCACY " our mission is to fight for the rights and well-being of the Ethiopian LGBTQ+(ZEGA) community.

Recognizing the power of the internet and the reach it offered, zega events and Advocacy developed a strategic plan to launch a website. This website would serve as a platform to be a voice of Ethiopian zega community struggles and aspirations

Zega events and advocacy starting from 2006 E.C ( 2014 G.C) by organising a queer parties and build a strong community.

Next, we worked beyond organizing a queer programs ( parties) we start a advocacy program by Using a social media platforms like Facebook. We reached out our work is not enough and aimed to unite and be organised to make a safe space for Ethiopian LGBTQ+ individuals to seek support, find resources, connect with others who understood their struggles and amplify the voices of LGBTQA Ethiopian communities.

As the story of the Ethiopian LGBTQ+ community and zega events and Advocacy unfolds, it serves as an inspiration for others facing similar struggles around the world. We bleave together we change everything!
